Call Out : Women (cis/trans) and Non-Binary Voices.

My name is Lola de la Mata, I am a London based artist, composer and musician. I am developing a voice based project in collaboration with Spitalfields Music and 8 participants from London to develop a sound installation which will be shown at Rich Mix in Summer 2021.

The project is being made in response to the use of a designated ‘neutral’ voice in AI (Artificial Intelligence) products, referred to only as her or she, and kept captive in a master/slave role-play. The new work will seek to raise awareness on the diversity of voices who are often labelled as ‘other’ and silenced, to make audible and visible women (cis/trans) and non-binary voices.

This form is set up in order for a larger group of voices to have a say and be heard. You are welcome to write as little or as much as you would like, and leave answers blank, I just ask that you write about your voice when you speak English, even if it is not your mother tongue, and I welcome you to write as you speak!

All responses will be anonymous unless you would prefer to share your name or persona.

Please note, this project is open to anyone over the age of 18, by filling out this form or sending your answers via a voice recording (mobile voice notes etc), you consent to my using your answers in the making of the project, either in workshops with the participants and/or the sound installation. If you would rather I use them simply for my personal research - please say so in the form.
