Build Community, Share Your Story, Know your Neighbors
Summer Community Groups at FMCSB
As the body of Christ we acknowledge that we are stronger as a community and individuals when we are developing closer relationships with one another. Active listening and telling our stories in small groups is one way we want to move forward. The goal is to give us a deeper understanding of our brothers and sisters in Christ, reflect on our own stories and background, strengthen our connections to each other, and help us grow in empathy, compassion, and listening.
During the summer we will be offering a different type of community group, centered on sharing our own personal stories with the members of our group. Our community groups will give space each week for one person to tell their life story followed by a time of questions, comments, and prayer (1 hour total). We will provide group members a set of questions to spark their sharing which can be prepared ahead of time. These might include their experiences with joys and challenges, racial realities, military service, cultural background, disability, faith journey, etc. Each person will share only the parts of their story that they are willing to share!
If you would like to join us please sign up for a Community Group: Sharing Our Stories by June 2nd. These community groups will run for 6-8 weeks during the summer depending on how many people are in your group. If we have enough sign-ups we will have two groups (one on Tuesday and one on Thursday).
If we don't have enough sign-ups for two groups we will have just one group that meets on the most popular day (either Tuesday or Thursday). Sign-up deadline is June 2nd! You will know which group you have been assigned to by June 11th.
Groups will start either June 18th (Tuesday) or June 20th (Thursday).
