Student Opinion Survey of Proposed Sustainability Certificate at UHWO
We are proposing the development of a new 18-credit 'Sustainability Certificate' at UHWO. The certificate is intended to offer students the opportunity to the study pressing issues of ecological and social sustainability using an interdisciplinary approach. Coursework would be drawn from multiple concentrations, including Philosophy, Political Science, Sustainable Community Food Systems, Hawaiian-Pacific Studies, Geography, and Anthropology, among others. The Sustainability Certificate will be designed to help students develop critical thinking skills, increase awareness of important ecological and social issues, and provide training for students to pursue professional work or graduate studies in the areas of ecological sustainability, social equity and resilience. The purpose of this survey is to better understand UHWO student knowledge of sustainability issues and to assess student interest in the proposed Sustainability Certificate program. Survey responses will help inform the development of certificate program and clarify student support. We are seeking responses from all students at UHWO. The survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete.
