Aloha! This is an application for participation in the Hawai'i Green Collar Institute (HGCI) program coordinated by the Mālama Learning Center during the DOE Fall Break for Leeward O'ahu high school students in grades 10-12 particularly from the Kapolei and 'Ewa regions. The program dates are October 5-7, 2020 and this three-day, virtual-based program will focus on the 'Ewa 'Āina Inventory - Environmental Issues and Careers in 'Ewa Moku, with the goal of exposing local students to the breadth of "green" careers in Hawai'i through virtual learning experiences that build capacity and interest in environmental conservation. Each day will feature fun lessons, guest speakers, and hands-on activities from about 8am-12pm (times vary on different days) held via Zoom. Huaka‘i (field trips) to sites in ‘Ewa will be tentatively planned for Winter Break 2020 if it’s safe to do so at that time.
