Free Workshop: Fostering Relationships with Governing Boards and Administrations Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 7 p.m. on ZOOM
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Schools are remarkable communities. They bring
together students, teachers, support staff, the school administration, and
volunteers. Other actors have a role to play as well, including the local
school board and the QFHSA. Schools thrive through the contribution and
collaboration of all. This workshop will explore three important players in
each school community (the principal, the Governing Board, and the local Home
and School Association). We will look at their respective roles along with
their interactions and relationships. Join the discussion – and gain a better
understanding of the fascinating and busy world of school.
ABOUT OUR PRESENTERS:Cindy Lockhart was a Home and School volunteer for 10 years and then pivoted from a daytime to evening volunteer when she became an integration aide. She has sat on such committees as the Governing Board, the Parents’ Participatory Organization (PPO), and the Central Parents Committee (CPC). A newly minted member of the QFHSA Board of Directors, Cindy continues to champion students, parents, and the school communities she has served for so long.
Rosemary Murphy has been working collaboratively on the Quebec education scene for many years. She has been a strong voice for the parent in education, filling the role of parent representative at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels. The current president of the QFHSA’s Board of Directors, Rosemary has also served as the vice-president of the Canadian Home and School Federation. Rosemary is a former commissioner with the Lester B. Pearson School Board and has served as an executive director and board member at the Quebec English School Boards Association.
