West Essex Archaeology Group July 2025 Experience Weekends
In celebration of the Festival of Archaeology West Essex Archaeological Group (Charity number-263486) are hosting three weekend experience digs for people to get hands on with archaeology. Participating in digging on a live site, students will learn the basics of archaeological investigation. Please complete this form to book yourself on one of our Experience Weekends this Summer hosted by WEAG in the stunning grounds of Copped Hall, Epping. Weekend booking costs £75 per person.

If you are booking for someone under the age of 16, please be aware they need to be accompanied by an adult who is also booked onto the weekend. Suitable for ages 13+. 

All equipment will be provided and we will forward detailed instructions after booking. You will need sturdy shoes, gloves, waterproof clothing, a sun hat (hopefully), bottle for water and a packed lunch. Trowels will be provided but if you wish to purchase your own we recommend a 4" pointing trowel.

Please be aware that although we plan to spend most of the weekend outside; poor weather, resulting in unsafe digging conditions, may mean we relocate some activities indoors.
