The UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) is organizing an event entitled "Towards A Sustainability Campus: A Call to Action" on 05 June 2024, 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM (Philippine Standard Time) on-site at the UPOU Headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna and via Zoom.
The UP Open University (UPOU) as spearheaded by the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) established the Sustainability in Action - a Living Laboratory Campus or SiALLC on 23 August 2023. By establishing SiALLC, UPOU aims to provide a transformative learning environment where sustainable practices, research, and public service can be harnessed. This initiative will help transform UPOU’s physical campus into a sustainable and resilient campus.
The objectives of the event are: 1) to present UPOU’s progress as SiALLC based on UNESCO’s guidelines for the implementation of sustainability in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs); 2) to raise awareness among UPOU employees and staff on sustainability campus; and 3) to facilitate hands-on demonstration of selected SiALLC components such as the Alitaptap Community Currency, Perma G.A.R.D.E.N (Growing Appreciation towards Resilience, Development, Entrepreneurship and Nutrition), and UPOU’s Solid Waste Management (SWM) efforts.
