Eligibility and General Instructions:Choreographer/composer applicants, as of April 15, 2019, must be at least 18 years old and either be a resident of New York City or have a significant, documented track record of artistic activity in Queens. Residents of Queens will be given preference.
This is primarily a choreographic residency. Choreographers may apply individually without a composer. However, composers MUST apply with a choreographer and may not apply as individuals. Dance collectives, collaborative choreography groups, or small dance companies are also welcome to apply to this program but will only receive one stipend per application to distribute at their discretion. This residency is open to choreographers working in all genres of dance, including, but not limited to: experimental/contemporary, modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, and folk/world.
To complete this application, you will need the following items: 1. Résumé from choreographer only (maximum two pages) in PDF or Word format.2. Two video samples of choreographic work are to be provided as Vimeo links in the “WorkSample” section of this application form. We will not accept YouTube links. 3. One audio sample of music composition (if applying with a composer) to be provided as SoundCloud link in the “Work Sample” Section of this application form or an MP3 format uploaded to the application. Keep all work samples to five minutes.
