Location: Main stage at the Port Townsend Saturday Farmers Market, Tyler Street

Instructions:
Please include locally farm-sourced ingredients in your pie, such as fresh berries, Nash's flour and/or other ingredients from local farms. Pies can contain both berries and other fruit or all berries. Pre register your pie with this form.

The pie contest will take place starting at noon at the Farmers Market main stage. We will have three to four judges, including our Port Townsend Mayor, Deborah Stinson, Crust pie baker, Kelli Winter, and performer, Joey Pipia.

PIES
• A pie has a bottom crust, perhaps a top crust, and a filling. Tart entries are also welcome.
• Crust and filling must be made from scratch by the entrant only.
• Pies should be submitted covered to the market info booth

JUDGING AND PRIZES
A PANEL OF JUDGES FROM THE COMMUNITY WILL JUDGE THE ENTRIES. THIS IS A BLIND JUDGING. WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AFTER THE JUDGING IS COMPLETE. PLEASE CONSIDER THE LIGHT-HEARTED INTENTION OF THE DAY AND ACCEPT THE FINAL DECISIONS OF THE JUDGING PANEL.

• All pies must be submitted between the hours of 9am and 11:30am the day of the contest.
• Please put your name and phone number on the bottom of your pie dish. Visit the market booth by no later than
1:45pm to pick up your pie plate and any leftover pie (it might be so delicious that the judges will devour it all!).
• Please include a written recipe of your pie and crust as well as the source of the recipe. You can bring this with you to
the contest or send it to Amanda via email before the contest. We will share the winning pie recipes with market
shoppers the following week.
• Judging criteria will include: originality of recipe, crust, overall appearance, and taste. Note that pie pan will not be
considered a part of the presentation.
• Pies submitted by professional bakers and home bakers will be in separate categories with prizes awarded to the
home bakers only.
• Scoring: Each judge will assign a numerical value (1-5) in each category without discussion among judges. The pie
receiving the highest total numerical value will be the winner in that category. In the case of a tie, the judges will
review and discuss those pies before a second vote.
• Pies will be evaluated by entrant number only (no names). Judges will not know the names of entrants until the
winners are announced.
• Winners in each category will receive prizes.
• All winners will be announced after the judging from the main stage.
