Revised Venbrace Syntax Study Form for Round 2
Venbrace is a text-based notation being developed for App Inventor. We're seeking United States high-school students (including recent high school graduates) familiar with App Inventor who are willing to participate in an online study to evaluate the learnability and usability of the current Venbrace syntax design. See http://cs.wellesley.edu/~venbrace for more about Venbrace and this syntax study.

We conducted Round 1 of this user study in late April 2020.  Since then, we have been improving the Venbrace language and the study based on what we learned from the first round of the study.

After a delay that was much longer than anticipated, Round 2 of the study will begin on Thu. June 25 and run through the end of Thu. July 2.

We estimate that this online study will take about 90 minutes of focused time to complete, but subjects can spread work on the study over a 24-hour period to allow for breaks.

Subjects who complete the study will receive a $20 electronic Amazon gift card to compensate them for their time.

We are planning a Round 3 version of the study that will be conducted for a week starting around July 15.

Since your plans may have changed since filling out the original form for this study, we are asking everyone to fill out this new form. Please fill out this form if you wish to participate in the second or third rounds of the study. (You can participate in at most one round of the study.)  Approximately 30 students will be selected for Round 2 on a first-come first-served basis based on the form submission time (and taking into account whether they can participate in Round 3).

All students not selected for Round 2 who indicate they are available for Round 3 will be asked to participate in Round 3 of the study.

On Thu. June 25, we will email all students who have filled out this form indicating their status for the study. Those selected for Round 2 will receive instructions on how to begin the study.

Even if it is after June 25, if you are interested in participating in the study, you should still fill out this form! Some slots for taking Round 2 of the study may still be available after June 25.

If you have any questions about the study, email us at venbrace-syntax-study@wellesley.edu. To protect your privacy, please (1) email us from the same email account you use to sign in to  App Inventor and (2) do *not* tell us your name.
