2019 Summit Professional Learning Community Application: Engaging with, Leading, and Sustaining Prism Networks
What is the PLC?

This year at each of our Brave Education Summits, a Prism Professional Learning Community track will offer up to 25 Teach For America LGBTQ+ and allied alumni, 2nd year corps members, staff, or non-TFA affiliated community members an opportunity to engage in valuable learning and development on how to create Prism boards in your regions. Our unique PLC Cohort communities will serve as an opportunity to build strong networks with other TFA alumni leaders around the nation in alignment with the goals of our overarching LGBTQ+ Community Initiative. Registration fees for those selected will be waived.

What is a Prism Board?

A Prism board is a alumni peer learning community for LGBTQ+ alumni and their allies/community members with the purpose of creating brave spaces for LGBTQ+ teachers and ultimately students. Prism boards are modeled off of Collective regional boards. The LGBTQ Community Initiative is working to establish Prism boards in all TFA regions in the country. As a result of the PLC over the last three years, the number of Prism networks has grown one in Massachusetts in 2016 to nearly 25 by May 31, 2019.
