Volunteer Opportunities

The generous volunteer spirit of MAC Band parents is what keeps our halftime shows, contests, and events running so smoothly. If you would like to help, please complete the following.

Football/Contest Season (late Aug - mid Nov)

We need 40+ volunteers per game or competition in a variety of categories, so we need a LOT of help. You are not committing to being at EVERY game or competition. We are hoping to have a large pool of volunteers so that no one is overly burdened. We'll put out a call for volunteers prior to each game/competition and you'll signup confirm availability. NOTE: All of the football volunteer opportunities (aside from "Construct the set") are ALSO needed during contest days—these can be a bit longer in duration.

What are your interests (check all that apply)?

Bus Chaperone - 6-7 hours per game - Chaperone students to and from games on buses; hand out water and snacks. Arrive at McCallum at 4:30 pm for games. Get to know your student’s peers!

Pit/Props Crew - 4-6 hours per game - Load/unload the trucks; assemble props, drum major podia, and stage for games/competitions; help get band on/off field; maintenance and end-of-year storage. Arrive at stadium approx. 1.5 hours before kickoff; pack up after halftime. Make friends with fellow parents!

Game Day Meals - 1-2 hours per game - Arrive (about 4:00 pm) at band hall prior to football games; assist with meal distribution.

Game/Contest Day Trailers/Drivers/Box Wranglers - 6 hours per game - Drive trucks to and from game; help load and unload trucks. Departure from McCallum HS is typically 4:30-5:00 pm for game days in town.

Game Day Supplies – We need supplies such as snacks, water bottles, and bags of ice delivered to the band hall to provide for the student buses on every game/competition day. It is also possible to donate money for someone else to buy these things. This is a way to contribute that doesn’t take much time, but is essential and much appreciated. Each game/competition volunteer signup lists all the things we need.

Construct the Set - 2+ hours per week (Aug - early Sep) - Help construct the set the band will use on the field. Sign up based on your availability – all help is welcome!

Sunshine Baskets - 1+ hour per game - Procure and fill treat baskets to trade with other booster clubs at each football game.

Videography - Time varies; film/video and edit halftime shows and competitions to share on social media.

Event Planning (throughout the year)

Help with one event, or help with them all! People with all kinds of skills are needed from manning registration tables to graphic design to sponsor solicitation. We'll find a fit for your interests.

Fundraising - Various opportunities throughout the year on a short term basis or the whole year. Work with the fundraising team to plan and execute events like restaurant fundraisers, merchandise sales, fence sign sales, and more.

Mardi Grazie - Sep - Jan; approximately 10 hours/month. It's a dinner, band concert, and auction.
