Cap and Gown Policy - Taft CHS Class of 2024

This communication is to provide you information regarding the Los Angeles Unified School District policy on the use of the cap and gown for district-wide graduation ceremonies.

The use of the cap and gown is an integral part of the academic attire required for all graduation ceremonies. Thus, Taft Charter High School would like to assure you that it is not mandatory to purchase the cap and gown to participate in the graduation exercise.

Parents(s)/Guardian(s) or students may now purchase the cap, gown, and tassel as a keepsake or may borrow and return the cap, gown and tassel in undamaged condition after the ceremony. Regardless of your decision, all eligible graduating seniors will be outfitted with a cap, gown, and tassel.

Two options are available:

The student may purchase the cap, gown, and tassel and keep all items as a keepsake. The cost of the cap and gown will be $17.20 + processing fee through GoFan. The items must be purchased by March 8 or the option will be changed automatically to a rental.
The student may choose not to purchase a cap, gown, and tassel. In such a case, the student will then borrow a cap, gown, and tassel for use during the commencement activity free-of-charge. However, the student will be held responsible to return the cap, gown, and tassel in undamaged condition within one week after the graduation ceremony. A diploma will be released after the return of the undamaged cap, gown, and tassel.

Please submit the cap and gown measurement through the link https://bit.ly/capgownmeasurement2024 and complete this Google form to indicate your preference by no later than March 1, 2024.

I will purchase a cap, gown and tassel as a keepsake. I will purchase the keepsake items through GoFan by March 8, 2024. If the items are not purchased by this deadline, the option will be changed automatically to a rental. Please use the QR code to purchase through GoFan.

I will not purchase the cap, gown and tassel for my child’s graduation. My child plans to borrow the cap, gown and tassel for graduation and will return all items in undamaged condition after the ceremony. I understand I may be charged $20 for the cap, gown and tassel if any item is damaged upon return. (You must complete the LAUSD Rental Agreement Form in the next section if you select this option)

By submitting this form, I, the parent, certify that my child and I have read and understand the cap and gown policy. Furthermore, I certify that I have submitted the cap and gown measurement to the link https://bit.ly/capgownmeasurement2024 in order for my child to receive a cap and gown to participate in the graduation ceremony on June 10, 2024.
