2018 Jim Bob & Dottie Tinsley Journalism Scholarship Application
The Jim Bob and Dottie Tinsley Journalism Scholarship was established in June 2008 by the Jim Bob Tinsley Museum and its board of directors in honor of Jim Bob and Dottie Tinsley. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to selected individuals attending an accredited university, college or technical college, with an emphasis on studies in the field of journalism. (The educational institution does not have to be in North Carolina.)

An applicant must be a graduate from the Transylvania County school system. Applicant must be a rising junior or senior in an accredited university, college or technical college and one who has declared a major (emphasis of studies) in the field of journalism (which can include but is not limited to degrees in Editing and Graphic Design, Electronic Communication, Multimedia, Photojournalism, Reporting, Advertising, Public Relations, Strategic Communications, etc.) The scholarship recipient must be a full-time student in the year they receive the award.

The award will be for an entire school year and paid to the scholarship recipient’s school in equal installments for each semester, so long as the recipient is enrolled as a full time student at the school.

Applications are due by June15, 2018.
