Participant Information
On behalf of the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) Radiotherapy committee you are invited to participate in this research study that aims to explore how qualified radiographers / radiation therapists are involved in CBCT-based IGRT for treatment verification, to assess confidence levels, training needs, and decision-making practices across clinical settings.
Your participation will require the completion of an online survey.
Your input matters, by completing this survey, you will help us better understand the evolving role of radiographers / radiation
therapists in IGRT, particularly in CBCT-based treatment verification.
This should take approximately 10 –15 minutes of your time.
Participation is completely voluntary. You should only take part if you want to and choosing not to take part will not disadvantage you in any way. The completion of the survey indicates that you consent to participate.
The survey is completely anonymous. You will not be identified, and the study adheres to strict confidentiality regulations. This survey involves minimal risk to you. The benefits,
however will inform future professional development initiatives and strengthen efforts to support education, recognition, and practice standards across the profession.
If you have any questions about the study, please contact the researcher(s) responsible for the study:
• Dr Guilherme Couto - Chair of EFRS Radiotherapy Committee Jose.g.couto@um.edu.mt
• Professor Ricardo Khine – Vice Chair of EFRS Radiotherapy Committee r.khine@qmul.ac.uk
The completion oft his survey implies your consent to participate.
If you choose to participate, please complete the survey below.
Introduction
As radiotherapy continues to evolve, the demand for precision in treatment delivery has never been greater. Image-Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT) plays a vital role in ensuring that radiation is delivered accurately, safely, and effectively.
Radiotherapy Radiographers / Radiation Therapists are increasingly at the forefront of IGRT, performing tasks that require both technical expertise and clinical judgment, from acquiring images to making real-time decisions that directly influence treatment accuracy
and patient safety.
Despite its clinical importance, there remains wide variation in how these responsibilities are defined, supported, and recognised across different countries, departments, and
institutions.
The European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) is committed to supporting its members in their evolving roles by identifying professional challenges and advocating for the education, resources, and recognition needed to deliver high-quality care.
This survey aims to explore how qualified radiographers are involved in CBCT-based IGRT for treatment verification, to assess confidence levels, training needs, and decision-making practices across clinical settings.
Please note: In this survey, IGRT refers specifically to its use in treatment verification — the process of confirming patient positioning and anatomy immediately before or during treatment to ensure safe and accurate delivery.
