Emerging Tech Policy Hackathon
Friday, April 17, 2026: 8:30am–4:00pm

Come develop innovative policy solutions on... winning the AI race!
  •  How can the United States expand its technical capacity and national infrastructure powering large language models while managing the energy and environmental impacts on local communities?
  • How can policymakers and technologists balance national security, community welfare, privacy, and economic innovation in formulating policy on the use of artificial intelligence?
  • What would an effective, meaningful AI regulatory framework look like?
Small groups of 3-5 students will develop policy proposals combining policy, technical, and strategic perspectives. At the end of the day, students will present their proposals to an expert panel of professors at Johns Hopkins University.

Winning policy proposals will receive Hopkins swag and more!

Food will be served throughout the Hackathon.

This event is open to all students in the DMV.
