Risk

All climbing and activity at the climbing center involves risk. To minimize this risk, all visitors are obligated to follow the safety rules of the climbing center. Everyone must sign this form to confirm that they have read and understood the safety rules before they can climb with us. For individuals under 18 years of age, a legal guardian must sign.

All climbing and stays at the climbing gym are at your own risk. Rana Klatresenter is not liable for injuries that may occur during climbing or other activities at the center. Rana Klatresenter is obligated to maintain the facility in a proper condition. This includes climbing surfaces, anchors, and other fixed equipment.

Safety Rules
Stay at Rana Klatresenter

Everyone who visits the climbing gym must be checked in at the front desk.

Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult, and the adult is responsible for making sure the child understands the risks and the safety rules.

People between 13 and 17 years old can stay at the climbing gym without their legal guardian, as long as the legal guardian has signed the liability waiver. When participating in an organized activity, participants must follow the instructions from the responsible instructor.

No running or screaming inside the climbing gym.

Be aware of falling objects (climbing holds, carabiners, and other loose parts).

Be careful about where you choose to stand when you are not climbing.

You must not be under the influence of drugs when you are in the climbing gym.

If you discover errors or deficiencies in the facility that lead to increased risk, or see that the behaviors of others may lead to a risk of accidents, you must notify the staff.

On the climbing wall

No potential loose objects must be brought up the climbing wall.

Do not put fingers in bolt hangers, carabiners, or other steel parts.

Climbers and belayers must use UIAA- and CE-approved equipment.

No barefoot climbing.

Use a chalk ball or liquid chalk instead of loose chalk/powder chalk. This because of our indoor environment.

Bouldering

Before you can start bouldering, you must have participated in a bouldering orientation given by the staff (either in person or through video).

You are responsible for knowing and following the Bouldering Rules poster and the instructions you find on the walls at the gym.

You are responsible for making sure no one falls on you. Avoid fall zones.

Check your surroundings before you jump down. Downclimb if possible. Use the grey down climbing holds.

The padded surfaces are only meant for falling, no running or playing. This also counts for the children’s corner.

Keep objects off the padded surfaces.

Resting boulderers must make room for active boulderers.

Autobelay

Before you can use the autobelay, you must have participated in an autobelay orientation given by the staff (either in person or through video).

Always buddy-check before you leave the ground.

For children under the age of 13, the autobelay must be operated by an adult.

Stay on the routes directly underneath the autobelay device. Climbing too far out to the sides can cause a risky pendulum fall. You must never climb past the top device.

You can use the autobelay if you weigh between 15 and 140 kgs.

Rope climbing

You are responsible for knowing and following the Climbing Rules poster.

To belay another climber, you need a Brattkort. Other belay certifications can be accepted, check with the staff.

When lead climbing, all of the quickdraws must be clipped.

If there is a large weight difference between the climber and the belayer, risk-reducing measures must be considered.

Never more than one rope at a time in a carabiner.

Always check the route you want to climb to ensure no one is above you. You must yield to people who started the climb before you.

People over 18 years old with a Brattkort can supervise another person without a Brattkort if the supervisor holds the passive end of the rope, stands on the ground, and pays close attention to the belayer.

All activity outside of the standard NKF method for top roping and lead climbing must be clarified with the staff first.

Everyone can climb on top rope and lead on all walls as long as the belayer has a lead certificate/top rope certificate/Brattkort.
