TAL Student Art Contest
Calling all young artists!   The TAL Student Art Contest is just around the corner. 

The Tomball Art League is inviting students in grades K-12 to express yourself through drawing, painting, abstract, sculpture, or crafts. This is a chance for students to showcase their art in the LSC-Tomball Library.  Winners will be awarded within each age group.  

First place artwork has the opportunity to remain on display in the library meeting room for the following month.  Artwork by student TAL members that wins 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place may advance to the LSAG virtual show.  (Membership is inexpensive, so it's worth considering).  Student artwork can also be listed for sale.  Student winning Best of Show will receive a $50 gift card, and their artwork will be put on display in the library.  NOTE:  Leaving your art at the library after the show is optional.  If you need to take it after the show (perhaps to enter in another competition), you may take it with you at the end of the show.  Students will be judged within the following divisions:
Grades K-2 (V-ES-1)
Grades 3-5 (V-ES-2)
Grades 6-8 (V-MS)
Grades 9-12 (V-HS)

and send a pdf spreadsheet of the required information, listing all student artwork on one sheet in lieu of submitting this form multiple times.

ART SUBMISSION GUIDELINES - PLEASE READ

This artwork will be hosted at the LSC-Tomball Community Library c/o Harris County Public Library, and will be on exhibition from Oct 8-10, 2026.  As storage space is unavailable, artwork must not be left on the premises before or after the designated delivery/removal dates.  Artwork may not be removed prior to the closing of the show, which is 4:00 PM on Saturday. 
  • Students are not limited as to number of pieces submitted, but this form must be resubmitted for each piece of art.  TEACHERS:  If you are submitting several pieces of student work, you may contact Teri Clark or Teresa Macorke at datamgr@tomballartleague.org and send a spreadsheet of the required information, listing all student artwork in lieu of submitting this form multiple times.  
  • Entry Fee:  $2.00 per submission, due at drop-off. 
  • All art must be matted or framed, unless they are gallery wrapped canvases, which must be staple-free on the front and sides and at least 1 1/2 inches deep. 
  • Matted art MAY be unframed, but MUST have velcro on the back.  Gallery-wrapped and framed art must have firmly attached wire hangers (no saw tooth hangers, or taped on string). Artwork that is not ready to hang correctly will not be accepted. 
  • ID tags ( ART FOR SHOW ID TAGS.pdf ) need to be printed out and filled out by hand and taped to the back for identification.
  • Artwork must be completely student's own original work, and must have been completed within the last two years.
  • Each piece of artwork must have a title.  "Untitled" is not acceptable.
  • Please enter size (6" x 6" - 24" x 36") with width first (W x H x D)
  • All art must be completely dry and ready to hang or display.  Wet paintings will be disqualified. 
  • 3-D art must not be heavier than 25 lbs and must have a sturdy base.  
  • Small, delicate 3-D art (paper sculpture, earrings, etc) must be encased or framed.
  • Artwork labels to be placed on the front of the artwork for judging will be given to you during art intake.
  • SUITABILITY: Artwork must be appropriate for family-friendly event.  No inappropriate content, please.  The TAL or Harris County Public Library Administrative Offices reserve the right to deny exhibition of any work deemed unsuitable, unsuitably presented or to have been misrepresented. 
  • LIABILITY: The LSC-Tomball Community Library c/o Harris County Public Library assumes no liability to the lender for any harm, damage, destruction, theft or mutilation to the artwork. Artwork is exhibited at LSC-Tomball Community Library c/o Harris County Public Library at the lender's own risk.
  • PROMOTION: TAL and the library reserve the right to reproduce images of loaned items for promotional purposes only.
  • SALES: Students may choose to list a sale price on their piece. In the event that a piece is sold, the Tomball Art League will take a 20% commission, and send a check to the artist for the remainder.   15% will go to the Library and 5% will go to the Tomball Art League.

AGREEMENT: By entering this artwork, the entrant indicates acceptance of these terms.
