We are pleased to invite eligible high school students to apply for SoMAS’s Total Immersion Scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship will receive up to $2,000 to offset the cost of enrollment and housing for MAR 104, the Summer Oceanography course at Stony Brook’s Southampton campus. This scholarship is intended to support students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in marine and atmospheric sciences. Additionally, we will prioritize applicants from backgrounds historically underrepresented in marine and atmospheric sciences.

Please keep in mind that scholarship funds are intended primarily for American citizens and permanent residents who belong to groups chronically underrepresented in marine sciences and we will prioritize applicants for whom cost might otherwise prohibit participation in this course. (Underrepresented groups include: Alaska Native (Aleut, Eskimo, or other Indigenous People of Alaska); Black/African American; Hispanic/Latino/Latina; Native American Indian; Native Pacific Islander (Hawaiian/Polynesian/Micronesian)
