Committee Survey
Thank you so much for following our link from the NREA newsletter.  In the next section, you will see a summary of the work of the EDIJ Committee, followed by four questions.  We appreciate your time as you respond to this quick survey!
The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Justice Committee aspires to create and sustain an organizational culture of equity, diversity, inclusion and justice essential to NREA’s mission promoting continued excellence in rural education.

As a committee comprised of volunteers, EDIJ has supported the work of NREA in these ways across the past decade:
• Conducted a comprehensive survey of the membership to gather demographic data as well as career and mission focus of the membership and shared that data via annual conference 2017. (And will do so again in 2024/2025)
• Contributed to the revision of NREA’s board policy, work and verbiage around equity, diversity, inclusion and justice across the intensive period of national conversation on this topic between 2020+.
• Worked in support of diversity within the organization by presenting EDIJ related conference sessions at the annual conference including financial support of diverse students (by individual faculty members) to present at NREA conference.
• Continued to work aggressively in their own personal career spheres of influence in support of EDIJ.
• Conducted various activities such as summer book studies, various conference sessions including a superintendent’s listening session across two annual conferences of NREA.
• Continue to recruit diverse members of the EDIJ committee to continue to generate initiatives in support of the larger organization’s EDIJ efforts.
