Instructions: LEARN ALL LESSONS. Refer to the article and answer all questions.
For subjective questions, your answer should be similar to the answer given.

REMEMBER: However, for thesis statement and topic sentences, you MUST have the EXACT wording of the answer for your answer to be marked as correct.
Lesson - Thesis statement: It is the sentence that tells the readers what the whole article or essay is about. It is also the main idea of the whole article or essay.
In writing, you usually write your thesis statement at the end of your first paragraph to introduce the three main ideas or main points of your essay. It must be in the form of a statement. It cannot be in the form of a question or a hanging phrase.

In writing, you usually write the topic sentence at the beginning of each body paragraph before providing its supporting details.
When answering reading comprehension, you must COPY WORD-FOR-WORD from the start until the end of the topic sentence.

Lesson - Main Idea: It is just like a topic sentence which represents what the whole paragraph is about but you have to use your own words to form a sentence.
A main idea can also be a combination of two different major points discussed in the same paragraph.
For example, if the first half of the paragraph is about a reason people smoke in public and the second half is about the effects on that habit to the people around the smoker, the main idea must be a sentence that combines both points.

One reason why people smoke in public is because some are not allowed to smoke indoors. (1st half)
One effect of smoking in public is it can lead to second-hand smokers getting health problems. (2nd half)
Main idea: People smoke in public because they are not allowed to smoke indoors but this leads to second-hand smokers getting health problems.

Lesson - Author's Meaning
Example:
"These experiences help to create memories." (lines 24-25)
What does the author mean by the given sentence?

In your answer, you have to reword the whole sentence but still retain the meaning of the sentence in context.
You need to use, mainly, your Meaning in Context and, sometimes, Reference Word knowledge to form your own sentence. (refer to Week 6 & 7 Reading exercise lessons)
Strategy with Example: These experiences help to create memories.
-You can switch the phrases: Memories are created by these experiences.

You can also paraphrase: These experiences help parents to create memories with their children.

However, the words are still the same! You need to do the 'change-change-change' method!

Firstly, replace words with synonyms: Children can remember better these events by their parents.

Next, replace all reference words in the sentence (refer to the article): Children can remember better events such as a year membership to the children’s museum or zoo that are given by their parents.
"This is how they learn and develop best." (lines 41-42). What are the reference words that you can change? *
