Application - GCCT 2022 Summer Mentorship Program
Between June 15 - August 20, 2022, Global Community College Transfers (GCCT) will hold a 9-week virtual mentorship program for community college and transfer students interested in international affairs and/or public service. During the 9-week program, mentees will be required to attend weekly workshops, meet with their mentor every 1-2 weeks, and complete several small assignments contributing to their professional and personal development. The time commitment for mentees is 3-4 hours per week.

If you are selected, we will pair you with a mentor based on your interests. Our diverse pool of mentors includes Boren, Critical Language, Erasmus Mundus, Fulbright, Marshall, Payne, Pickering, Rangel, and Schwarzman Scholars, along with Presidential Management Fellows and others in the public service sphere. Many work for NGOs, think tanks, government agencies (state, local, and federal), or are in graduate school. You will meet with your mentor via an agreed upon platform of choice (phone, video call, etc.) and be able to build connections with your mentorship cohort.

The 8 virtual workshops will cover topics like networking, personal statements, diplomacy, and interning abroad. Workshops will tentatively be held every Wednesday from 5:10-6:00pm PST/8:10-9:00pm EST.  Participants must be able to attend at least 7 out of 8 workshops, with some limited exceptions for those with work, family, or similar commitments. Three of the virtual workshops will be led by Meridian International Center in Washington, D.C.:

All mentees are required to prepare one scholarship, fellowship, internship, or job application during the course of the mentorship program. This could include anything from an application to intern with your Congressperson in DC to an application for Peace Corps abroad. Your mentor can provide advice and guidance during this process.

Our application is competitive and we look for promising mentees from a variety of backgrounds who are broadly interested in international affairs or public service. This means you might be interested in things like state, local, or federal government, NGO work, or you're interested in other languages, cultures, living abroad, diversity, or international relations. Non-traditional, low-income, and underrepresented students are encouraged to apply.

**Application deadline: April 12th, 2022 11:59pm EST (Extended to Saturday, April 16th at 11:59pm PST)**

Applicants will be notified of selection in mid-May 2022. Please note that we may email you for a resume and/or to schedule a 15-minute interview beforehand. Feel free to email Jasmine or Leia with questions at
