Music Therapist
•The MT provides direct one-on-one and/or group music therapy to clients in his/her/their caseload. Employee will work with a variety of populations (developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s/dementia) and in multiple settings (group, individual, small group; in-home, in-clinic, contracted facility, online).
Employee will not only co-facilitate and independently facilitate sessions with the current goals, but will also assess client for appropriate interventions that support the objectives of the client, plan music therapy sessions, and implement the session plan. Documentation of music therapy sessions in the manner established by the company to be included in the client records. Employee will evaluate and debrief music therapy sessions during company meetings.
Employee will complete required readings relating to the populations and interventions being served at this site
•The position of music therapist (MT) is non-exempt from overtime.
•Board Certification by the Certification Board of Music Therapists is required must be maintained at all times during employment.
•Qualifications:
*Music therapy degree; BA or higher from an accredited university program.
*Internship: Completed 1200 music therapy internship at an AMTA approved internship site.
*Competence in the English language is required. Competence in the Spanish language is valued but not required.
*The MT must be proficient on guitar, piano, and voice. Proficiency in percussion or other principal instrument is helpful.
• A background check, physical, and TB test be required.
• This job may require transporting and lifting musical instruments in and out of cars and into facilities. The MT must be able to physically carry out the duties of this position.
