African Nova Scotian Kick-Start Apprenticeship Event

As part of the ongoing collaboration between African Nova Scotian Affairs (ANSA), the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency (NSAA), and Black Business Initiative (BBI) you are invited to attend an African Nova Scotian Kick-Start Apprenticeship Event* on November 7th, 2019.

This one-day event will promote, educate and highlight the Skilled Trades, and the Apprenticeship system specifically for the African Nova Scotian community. Along with ANSA, NSAA and BBI staff; Minister Tony Ince, industry insiders and current African Nova Scotian apprentices/journey persons will be presenting and interacting with you in sessions such as:

• The African NS Apprenticeship Experience
• Employer Engagement: Building Connections
• Supporting the African NS Apprentice
• And much more….

This event is a follow-up of the community meetings ANSA and NSAA hosted in collaboration with community organizations across the province in 2017-2018 on a career in the skilled trades.

It is estimated, over the next several years, there will be approximately 8,000 retirements in the construction sector alone in Nova Scotia.

So whether you are an African NS pre-apprentice, community leader, service provider to the African NS community, part of a community organization, just a community member or know someone interested in a trade…… you should be at this Kick-Start event on November 7th, 2019!!


Hotel & a meal per diem on November 6th will be provided for participants from Digby county and Yarmouth
Travel Cost will be given to participants who live greater than 50KM from Truro (if needed)
