Bookbinding I is considered the fundamental course of the CBBAG
curriculum by teaching terminology, materials, tools, techniques, and basic
concepts. The course includes six components: setting up the shop
and tools; materials and techniques, making a picture frame; sewing
variations, endpapers; book cloth and board; making the case; hanging-in
the text block, adhesion; and expansion and contraction. This course
includes pamphlet sewing, lap stitch sewing, quarter, half, and full cloth case
binding; and concepts of grain, warp and pull, swell, and the joint.
As a core course of CBBAG, completion of Bookbinding I will be
credited toward the CBBAG Certificate of Completion. [See www.cbbag.ca for

Dates: 6 days running Saturday to Monday: March 21-23; 28-30, 2026

Cost: $495
Materials Fee: $50 payable to Tim Dyck by cash or cheque on the first day

Cancellation: There is a $2 service fee deducted when cancelling. Cancelling after March 13, will result in a $60 charge. There will be no refund once the course has begun (March 21).

Refreshments/Lunch: Tea and light snacks will be provided for breaks. If you prefer coffee, bring it with you. There is a cafe next door, open Fridays and Sundays, and a nearby Tim Hortons. Brown bag your lunch.
