The Posh Placenta Service Agreement
The client has fully disclosed any known sensitivities, intolerances, allergies, or similar conditions related to topical application, ingestion, or other methods of exposure. The preparation specialist will disclose all ingredients used in the preparation of the placenta.

The preparation specialist will use an Environmental Protection Agency registered quaternary disinfectant in lieu of chlorine bleach to kill any bloodborne pathogens. The service provider will follow both the directions of the Environmental Protection Agency and the manufacturing company in order to thoroughly disinfect all non-disposable equipment and will take the utmost care in keeping a safe and sanitary environment in which to prepare each placenta. Only one placenta will be prepared at a time to prevent cross contamination and the possibility of delivering the incorrect placenta to the client, and each placenta will be treated as though possibly infected with bloodborne pathogens to insure proper sanitation.

By allowing the preparation specialist to collect the placenta, the client insures that it has been stored properly and has not been soiled, altered, or treated in any way. It is required that after being delivered onto a sanitary surface, the placenta be immediately double bagged in gallon Ziploc bags (handling the second bag with clean gloves) and may not come into contact with non-foodsafe substances or contaminated instruments. The placenta must then be collected by a trusted friend, family member, or a doula and stored in a safe place, ideally in a home refrigerator (up to 48 hours) or freezer. If there is a concern and the client would like pathology to test the placenta, the client will instruct the staff to cut off a small chunk in front of her with a clean instrument, and will retain possession of the rest of the placenta and store properly. The client will then notify the placenta preparation specialist before arrangements are made for the placenta to be picked up, and the placenta will be properly stored until the pathology results are released. If the placenta leaves the sight of the client or trusted caretaker (not hospital staff) or goes to pathology, the preparation specialist will not prepare it for consumption.

The client understands that the placenta is to be collected in two sterile bags and stored in an ice chest for no more than 12 hours, then refrigerated for no more than 48 hours before being transferred to a freezer. It is the client's responsibility to notify the preparation specialist that the placenta is ready for collection and coordinate the pickup time. If for some reason the preparation specialist is unavailable, the placenta should remain double bagged and frozen until collected. The client understands that the preparation process can take up to a week for all services other than tinctures, 6 weeks for tinctures, and possibly longer under extenuating circumstances.

The client understands that any dosage guidelines are only anecdotal suggestions and are, by no means, a prescription or medical advice. If illness occurs, it is recommended to stop consuming the placenta and continue when health is restored. If negative or adverse reaction or pregnancy occurs, discontinue use.

The preparation specialist will travel up to 15 miles outside of Kisling Loop, Panama City, Florida; beyond that, the client is responsible for paying a mileage rate, as well as any parking fees, tolls, or other traveling expenses incurred outside of the preparation specialist's vehicle maintenance costs, even within 15 miles, unless otherwise mutually agreed upon in writing. Alternately, the client may elect to have the placenta delivered and/or collected by an authorized friend, family member, doula, or caretaker, but must notify the preparation specialist in writing beforehand. The authorized collector must present photo identification at time of delivery and collection.

The client understands that the placenta will not be suitable for consumption should the client develop choriocarcinoma, chorioamnionitis, or any other uterine or placental infection. If the client withholds or is unaware of these conditions, she will not hold the placenta service provider responsible in the event that illness occurs. It is the client's responsibility to notify the preparation specialist of any fever during birth (unrelated to pain medication), illnesses, medications, procedures, or other circumstances that may contraindicate consumption.

The 25% booking deposit is nonrefundable, even if, for any reason, the placenta is rendered unsuitable for consumption. The 25% collection fee is also nonrefundable, even if, for any reason, the client decides not to consume the placenta. If the placenta has not been processed, it must be collected by the client or authorized personnel at the preparation specialist's convenience without being charged the remaining 50%. If processing has begun, the client will be responsible for paying the remaining 50% within the week processing is complete. The 50% processing fee is also nonrefundable, even if, for any reason, the client is unsatisfied with the preparation service provided or decides not to consume the placenta. This fee is due within 7 days of completion of the service and must be paid before receiving the prepared placenta. If for any reason the client is unable to pay the remaining balance within the agreed upon time frame, the preparation specialist will be notified by the client so that a payment plan can be decided upon. The preparation specialist will accommodate the financial needs of the client within the best of her ability.

Placenta Preparation Services Offered:

Serums:
After a consultation, a tailored blend of oils is infused with a portion of dehydrated and ground placenta to produce an antioxidant, nutrient, stem cell, and hormone-rich skin serum. Serums are reported to minimize and reduce scarring, hyperpigmentation, and other damage, as well as prevent wrinkles, promote healing, and offer hydration and overall rejuvenation.

Tinctures:
A small piece of placenta and a few drops of cord blood are soaked in high-proof alcohol, producing a stem cell and hormone-rich extract. This extract will last indefinitely, and as long as the placenta remains submerged in alcohol, it can be continuously refilled. Popular uses include easing  symptoms of postpartum depression/anxiety/psychosis lasting more than one year, tailor-made hormone therapy for menses and menopause, easing pain in adults and children (the alcohol can be evaporated in very hot liquid and left to cool), including pain from teething! If the child was female, a tincture is perfect to pass on to her when she begins menses to help ease pain and regulate hormones. Tinctures are included with encapsulation and truffle packages, but are also available separately.

Raw Preparation:
The placenta is drained, rinsed, and cut into small chunks for raw consumption. They can be added to drinks or dishes, or simply eaten or swallowed whole alone. The placenta chunks are individually wrapped and are available separately or as an add-on to a larger package.

Smoothie Drops:
The placenta is drained, rinsed, and ground raw and frozen into the shape of a small berry using a silicone mold. This is not only more appealing to handle and consume, but it is more easily incorporated into drinks and dishes and is pre-portioned. Smoothie drops are individually wrapped and are available separately or as an add-on to a larger package.

Encapsulation:
The placenta is either prepared raw, steamed, or half of each and it is rinsed, sliced, dehydrated, powdered, and put into capsules.  Steamed is milder, and is argued to be gentler on a recovering mom (not stimulating energy-wise), and it is said to be "warming", where as raw is more potent as well as stimulating. Steamed produces about half of the capsules that raw does and requires a higher dose, but raw shouldn't be taken at night as it is energizing. Steaming is necessary when there are contraindications for raw (infection or fever during labor, for instance).  Encapsulation includes a cord keepsake (in the shape of your choice when possible), a tincture, a placenta print, and capsules; if the placenta was steamed, a broth will be included.

Truffles:
The placenta is either prepared raw, steamed, or half of each and it is rinsed, sliced, dehydrated, powdered, and incorporated into chocolate truffles. This is an excellent for those who are squeamish, have difficulty swallowing or remembering to take pills, or who simply enjoy indulging in sweets! You may also have half encapsulated and half “truffled”. Truffles include a cord keepsake, a tincture, a placenta print, and truffles;  if the placenta was steamed, a broth will be included.

Burial Preparation:
The placenta is drained, rinsed, patted dry, wrapped in cloth, and placed in a freezer bag. This package includes a cord keepsake, a placenta print, and a placenta ready to bury.

Cord Keepsakes:
The cord is drained, rinsed, shaped, and dehydrated to form a unique keepsake. Common designs include a heart, circle, spiral, an initial, or, if long enough, a short word, like “love”.

Placenta Prints:
The placenta is stamped onto a canvas or paper using either blood or food-safe paint. It can be made to look like a tree, or can be very creative and abstract. It is a wonderful piece of unique artwork to display in your home.
