This program is an opportunity for you to gain leadership skills, run a project of your choosing, receive valuable experience for post-secondary or job applications, or get volunteer hours. This is open for youths ages 15-29 years old.
Here’s what you will do:
- Identify a need/issue in your community and organize a project that will address that need/issue. You will also receive a grant of up to $500 (or more, depending on your project details) to fund your project. You can run a basketball tournament to bring youth together and promote physical exercise, you can give out homeless care bags to help homeless individuals, you can start a community library box to encourage reading, or you can do just about anything else you can think of.
Check out this website to see more awesome community projects that you can do! (www.youthfund.ca/ideas) - Learn from different skills training workshops for 5 days to help equip you with the necessary skills (e.g., project planning, budgeting, etc.) to organize and launch your idea. Then, attend a 1-on-1 coaching call with staff to give you support planning your project.
Here’s how you will benefit:
- Develop project management skills
- Gain volunteer hours
- Get a certificate of recognition and reference letter
- Learn and/or improve your skillset (like identifying community issues, budgeting, marketing, public speaking, evaluation)
- A chance to make a positive difference in your community!
