Pick Your Shift/s from the Following Options
You can choose as many, or as few shifts as you like! We are grateful for your support. Contact / 612-824-9402 x 14 with any questions or concerns.
Street Monitors (24 for each shift)
These volunteers keep the street "open" and keep cars off the street during the event. Volunteers are needed at most intersections to set up the barricades (first shift only); take down barricades (last shift only); take tallies of pedestrians, bikers, and other non-motorists in your section. Tally takers are only required in certain intersections. You will be given instructions and tally sheets for this task. You'll make sure no cars turn onto Nicollet while the street is closed and will also receive sidewalk chalk to engage guests by adding creative drawings to your intersection and asking event goers to help out!
This is an important posting! As an ambassador you'll help community members find events, direct them to restrooms, and help pick up the trash along the route (don't worry, gloves and bags are provided!). In this position you'll play an important part in encouraging people to tweet about their experience; your enthusiasm helps Open Streets Goers have the best experience possible.
Runners/Bikers (2 each shift):
As a runner, you'll be stationed at the event HQ (the Lyndale Community Center - 3537 Nicollet Ave) and help the event run smoothly. We anticipate runners will run information and materials to different posts during the event, check in on volunteers, and bring supplies where they are needed. Best option to have a bike for this posting. When not running, you'll help check in volunteers and keep the HQ running smoothly!
LNA and KFNA Representative (4 for each shift)
Hand out information about upcoming events, newspapers, program information, get people signed up for volunteer information.
Clean Crew (the more the merrier!):
Return Nicollet to its shining glory. Put signs away, pick up leftover trash, make sure the street is free from any Open Street stuff.
Mystery Shift
You must be flexible anytime between 10:30 am and 5:45 pm. You are the hero of the event! Filling in gaps and making sure that everything runs smoothly. We ALWAYS need extra volunteers, even if other positions are full, you can still sign up for a Mystery shift and we'll put you to work!
