In 2015,
American Theatre magazine launched a monthly vertical in our print edition called
Role Call: People to Watch, in which we profile theatre workers more people should know about. They have included playwrights, directors, designers, administrative personnel, trustees, even a security guard. If they're doing great work in or for the theatre, we want the field to know about them.
If you would like to nominate someone for Role Call, please use this form.
Nominees don’t need to be young or of any particular age or career level. Their main quality should be that they are not widely known outside the region or discipline in which they work. They may have a bright future ahead, be unsung veterans, or be in the midst of a humming but under-appreciated career.
We’re looking especially for folks in all kinds of theatrical “roles”: not only actors, directors, and writers but composers, choreographers, designers of all kinds, production managers, scene shop staff, stage managers, house managers, trustees, development staff, press and marketing pros, etc. Anyone who contributes to the success of the theatre.
When you recommend someone, please tell us a few choice things about why they’re special.
Here's our entire run of Role Call features, which have continued during
American Theatre's online-only pause:
