The Center Orlando exists to promote and empower the LGBTQ+ community and its allies through information, education, advocacy, and support.
Vision: Transcending the lives of those impacted by PULSE.
Expertise: When working with LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, and other marginalized groups, it is essential providers acknowledge the numerous contextual barriers that exist for these communities as a function of their marginalization. The universal impact of violence can be compounded for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly if they experience poverty, food insecurity, housing instability, and chronic illness before the violence occurs.
Respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims
Assist primary and secondary victims of crime in stabilizing their lives after victimization
Help victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system
Provide victims of crime with a measure of safety and security, such as boarding up broken windows and replacing or repairing locks, or creating a safe space to discuss their victimization
Assist in filling out Florida Victim Compensation claims.
