Thank you for your interest in Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity's Aging in Place Critical Home Repair Program. Our AIP Critical Home Repair Program promotes dignity and independence for low-income senior or veteran homeowners in Pierce County by addressing critical health and safety needs within their homes.
To qualify for Habitat's home repair services,
applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:
* Own and occupy the home where the repairs will occur
* Be a Pierce County resident
* Be age 60 or older OR an honorably discharged veteran of the US military
* Have a household gross income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income

Have an emergency need for a furnace, hot water heater, ramp installation, or door widening* Be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity
by helping with the work
in some way if physically able (what Habitat calls “sweat equity”) *
Be willing to pay a portion of the repair costs. Repair recipients will be asked to pay 5-30% of the total repair costs. Monthly payment plans are available with credit approval. A $100 down payment is required to begin work.
Important: The home where repairs are made must be the senior/veteran's primary residence and the senior/veteran must plan on living in the home for a minimum of two years after work is completed. Work can be done on mobile homes only if it was built after 1976 and the repair cost does not exceed 50% of the value of the home.
