Grow to Learn Spring 2017 Workshop Registration
The days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer, which can only mean one thing: Spring is here! Along with our Spring 2017 Workshop Calendar! We have lots of topics for you to select, and will be adding to this form as the season goes on- check back regularly on our events calendar for more workshops from Grow to Learn and our partner organizations. You must register to attend any Grow to Learn workshop- fill out the information below to sign up for one or more workshops of your choice.

Please register with a valid email address that you plan to check regularly- a registration reminder will be sent to you one week prior to your workshop with detailed access information for the workshop location. We will also use your registration email to get in touch should we need to postpone the event due to weather. If you are not connected with a registered school garden you are still welcome to attend any workshop. Learning is open to anyone, but only registered schools will be eligible to receive the free materials or give-away. If you would like to register your school garden (or check if your school is registered), visit and click on the top right hand button that says ‘register your garden’.

Grow to Learn is administered through a partnership between GrowNYC and the NYC Parks Department’s Green Thumb division. Additional programming support is provided by the NYC DOE Office of School Food’s Garden to Café program.

Bench Building Workshop
May 30 2017: 5:00pm-7:00pm MS 363X's garden at 2339 Morris Ave Bronx, NY 10468. All of us would love to create thriving outdoor classrooms: learning environments within our gardens where students can actively apply skills and knowledge in a practical way. There are many barriers that can arise from getting the students outside in the first place to getting them settled and in the best position to learn and focus in the garden. Seating is a major element that is missing from many school gardens and there are many reasons for this. Some schools do not have the funding to dedicate to purchase funding nor the time or resources to build their own. In this workshop we will show you how to overcome these obstacles to create very low-cost and low-input benches that you can use in your school gardens. This is a hands on workshop – make sure to wear close-toed shoes and pants and bring a pair of gloves if you can.
