The information generated by this form will be used to customize your welcome packets, which everyone receives upon arrival. If you decide to participate in the host family program, it will also be used to match you with a host person, couple, or family.
Musicians and staff do not live with hosts or Community Link families. All musicians and summer staff members are lodged in condos around town, not with hosts.
The Community Link program links NRO musicians and summer staff members with local individuals, couples or families. It allows you to feel at home and to become a part of the wonderful community of Summit County. It allows local NRO supporters a chance to get to know you, while filling a unique and vital volunteer role. They may cook you a home-cooked meal or take you out to dinner every week. They may provide a quiet place to practice if you need it. They may provide you with a place to do your laundry should one be unavailable to you. They may also act as your personal connection to Summit County: showing you the best hiking and biking trails, lending you a tennis racket, giving you the name of the best doctor in town, showing you the best store to buy souvenirs, and offering you social opportunities like BBQ’s with other host families.
Your involvement with host families depends on both your schedule and their schedule. It also depends on the interest levels of both parties. Every situation is a bit different.
Former musicians reported that having a host family truly enriched their NRO experience. In fact, many NRO alumni still keep in touch with their host families and have returned to Breckenridge to visit.

I am an NRO Board Member and a volunteer. Send questions early, be patient in waiting for a response and get me this information by the deadline of Friday, March 30, 2018. The earlier you get your information to me, the better the fit with your host family! As the saying goes, the early bird gets the worm.
An Additional Note: While you are here there will be activities scheduled for the entire orchestra, for example, attending a Colorado Rockies baseball game or whitewater rafting down the Colorado River. Sign-up sheets will be available in the NRO Operations Office at the Riverwalk Center prior to each event. Some of these large full orchestra events will have a cost associated with them. You will be notified in advance of any cost to you.
I hope you participate in the Community Link program. I use the attached form to select your host family so they know your interests. Please fill it out completely and quickly. Believe it or not, the last question is the most important. PLEASE tell me something about yourself that I didn't cover in the form!
If you have questions, feel free to e-mail or call me, BUT, please do it soon so that I have a chance to get back to you prior to your placement.
Warm regards and again, congratulations, Barbara Calvin Board of Trustees, Community Link Program
