Here is the language of the letter:
Governor Phil Murphy
Office of the Governor
225 W. State Street
Trenton, NJ 08625

Dear Governor Murphy:

We, the undersigned organizations, write to urge you to reject the proposal to build another dirty gas power plant in Woodbridge Township on the Raritan River waterfront.  There are many reasons to oppose this proposal, but the most important one is that it is expected to spew millions of tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year.

The site where this is proposed is an environmentally sensitive area that has been deemed overburdened under your environmental justice legislation, next to an existing gas-fired power plant that is contributing to the poor air quality in Central Jersey.  Combined, the expanded facility would emit more than 4 million tons of greenhouse gases every year, making it one of the worst climate polluters in the entire state.

This proposal comes before you at a time of unprecedented threat to our climate, and New Jersey needs to be a leader in transitioning to 100% renewable energy.  Building more fossil fuel infrastructure will only exacerbate the climate crisis, and damage the health of another generation of New Jerseyans.  There are more than 70 public schools within a 6-mile radius of this proposed power plant.  We need you to think of them and take bold action to stop this proposal and protect the public.

Accordingly, we urge you to stop this proposal, whether through Executive Order, existing regulatory authority, new climate PACT or environmental justice (S232) rules, or any other means necessary. We look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
