Rockland People's Panel on Policing — Become a Member
The People’s Panel on Policing is an initiative created in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd to provide independent oversight of the policing function of local government in Rockland County, New York. Racial and cultural biases, militaristic policies and practices in law enforcement, and failures in leadership and oversight can wrongfully take lives and liberty and damage the psyche of the people, particularly Black, Indigenous and People of Color, perpetuating a racial caste system in our county that is an affront to the notions of equality and justice necessary to our collective well-being.
The panel will seek to influence the proceedings outlined in Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order #203by educating the public and advocating for positive policy changes by conducting fact finding hearings and issuing a public report prior to April 1, 2021.
