/ About the Artist Village /

The Artists Village (TAV) is a pioneering contemporary art group and Singapore's first art colony, established by Tang Da Wu in 1988. Renowned for its engagement with societal changes and issues, TAV has played a pivotal role in Singapore's contemporary art scene. With a focus on performance art, installation art, and process-based work, TAV has mentored younger artists and introduced installation and performance art to the local art scene. TAV organizes exhibitions, Happenings, and symposia, fostering an increased consciousness of the arts' importance through active dialogue and the production of impactful artworks. TAV's significant contributions were celebrated in a retrospective exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum, and they have been invited to exhibit at the prestigious M+ Hong Kong in 2023.

/ About the Originals /

"The Originals" was founded in 2017 by CHEN Sanmu, LAI Chun Ling, and TO Yeuk with the objective of developing and promoting performance art. In 2023, two new members, MA Wing Man and IP Sze Yu, joined the group. Their artistic approach centers around the use of childlike innocence and curiosity as the foundation of their creations. Currently, their primary focus is on collaborative performances that transcend individual limitations. Guided by a genuine childlike spirit, they also actively gather and exchange information about visual and performance art. Through their artistic endeavors, they explore local culture, social issues, and the art ecosystem, aiming to broaden the perspectives of emerging art enthusiasts and audiences.
