Lessons FAQ
How much do they cost? What is your availability?

60$ CAD (a bit less than 50$ USD). Any time between 11am to 7pm Eastern time (Montreal), wednesday to friday. But if you're in a far away time zone just let me know and we can probably figure something out.

Holy crap that's not very expensive, are they any good?

Hell yeah, I live in an affordable city so I pass the savings on to you! I've taught workshops at NYU, Berklee, McGill and other fancy places, I've played concerts all around the world from Tokyo, to Dubai, to Mexico City, and plenty of other places, I've released tons of albums and most recently made a project with AI robots that play cello, and, most importantly, I've been doing this shit a long time, so don't worry, you can trust me to give you the straight goods.

Do I need any fancy gear?

Nope, just a computer with Ableton (and a mic so I can hear you). It also helps to download and install audiomovers listento - https://audiomovers.com/wp/downloads/ I recommend getting the vst instead of the app (you don't need an account, I have one you can use).

What usually happens in the first lesson?

You bring a track you're working on (doesn't have to be great, just something you want feedback on, even a short loop will do), and from there we use it as a jumping off point to talk about different techniques and concepts for you to work on. I'll show you some stuff and then assign some homework for you to work on over the week.
Or, if you want to do lessons in max msp we can just dive right in to whatever you want to learn. It can still be helpful to send me something you've made or are working on so I can see where you're at, but it's not necessary.

What kind of stuff can I learn?

Basically anything related to making electronic music! You wanna finesse your transitions, or work on arrangement? No problem! Level up your sound design or learn more about different synthesis techniques? I got you! Wanna go deeper and learn how to make a compressor, granular synth or anything else in max/msp? We can definitely do that! Even if you wanna get more conceptual and talk about your album ideas or live show setups, I have the experience and knowledge to get you to where you wanna go.

Can I sign up for a one off lesson or should I go all out and schedule recurring lessons?

You can definitely sign up for a one off, especially if you have some specific question you want an answer to. If you're not quite sure what you need, or where to go, I really recommend getting at least 4 lessons. Also regular students get other bonuses like free max devices, some of which are unreleased (or I might end up making something bespoke for you if I find it would help you). Not to mention that the better we get to know each other the more specific and precise I can get with the advice and guidance.

Don't worry they don't have to be finished/polished tracks, it's just to get an idea of your style.
