Impostor Syndrome

The purpose of this study is to examine SOC 355: Quantitative Research Methods knowledge of Impostor Syndrome. Furthermore, the data collected may be organized and coded into SPSS for purposes of running descriptive and inferential statistical analyses that the students can use to master these concepts.

This study will consist of a survey questionnaire with 15 questions about Impostor Syndrome. There is no time limit associated with participation in the study.

This study will contribute to our understanding of student experiences and perceptions related to Impostor Syndrome and will be used to help teach proper survey development, database creation, and statistical analysis of data.

There are no specific harms noted with participation in this study. While the topic of Impostor Syndrome may lead some participants to reflect on feelings of self-doubt or inadequacy, there are no expected triggers or potentially damaging topics being addressed. However, should a participant find that they are uncomfortable answering any specific questions or feel that their participation might expose them to physical, psychological, emotional, social, or legal harms, they are welcome to skip those questions and, if they so choose, stop participating in the study altogether.

Participants are free to withdraw from the study at any time, for any reason, without penalty.

Responses to this survey will be kept confidential. Individual responses will not be associated with any identifying information. Only aggregated data or tables and visual representations based on statistically analyzed data will be released in any reports generated from the information gathered.
