The Speak Truth Fellowship is a year-long program for secondary teachers grounded in the evidence-based methodologies of Inspired Teaching and Ford’s Theatre. Fellows learn how to foster lively and insightful student-led seminars on issues that matter by building improvisation, inquiry, oratory, and performance skills.

All Fellows
1. Learn how to foster lively and insightful student-led discussions by building improvisation, inquiry, oratory, and performance skills through a 3-day Institute. Date/ Time: August 9-11 from 9 AM - 3 PM Location: Ford’s Theatre (514 10th St. Washington, DC). (Lunch provided daily.)

2. Work with their students during the 2022-2023 school year to implement 3 Speak Truth seminars after school.

3. Receive a $500 stipend and a certificate for 30 hours of professional development upon successful completion of the above requirements.
Expectations
1. Attend in the in-person June 28-30 Institute.

2. Implement 3 after-school Speak Truth seminars led by your students during the 2022-2023 school year.

3. Prepare students to lead the seminars using the Speak Truth approach (described in detail in the Speak Truth Guidebook).

4. Schedule the seminars at your school and ensure students register and attend.

5. Notify Inspired Teaching and Ford’s Theatre of the dates at least 2 weeks in advance so surveys can be created.

6. Host the seminars and keep track of attendance using provided online spreadsheets so community service hours can be provided to students.

7. Administer online surveys after each Speak Truth seminar so results can be shared with Inspired Teaching and Ford’s Theatre for ongoing research purposes.

8. Complete a written program reflection after successfully implementing your final Speak Truth seminar.
