This research project is run by the Sydney Translational Imaging Lab: www.stil.net.au.

We seek healthy participants for a study of brain circuits.

Participation: Participants will undergo cognitive testing, an MRI of their brain, and complete emotion and lifestyle questionnaires. The study takes place at an imaging lab, and has a duration of approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes. No financial compensation will be given.

Study description: Functional and structural images of the brain will be used to create a “connectomic” map of the neural connections that govern cognition and emotion. We will use these data to understand how obesity, diabetes, and heart disease affect brain function and therefore the ability to function well in normal daily life.

Recruitment criteria:

- aged 18 years or older with no history of cardiac disease, diabetes or renal impairment.

- no history of claustrophobia, metallic implants or other contraindication for MRI.

- no involvement in any other clinical research protocol in the three previous months.

Confidentiality - the participant needs to be able to provide informed consent. You will need to sign a consent form prior to the study after the MRI exam and associated risks have been explained. All the information collected from you will be treated confidentially, and all data will be de-identified.
