American Fork High School Band Volunteer Information Form 2023
Thank you for your help in running the American Fork Marching Band! It truly takes an army to run this program efficiently. We encourage all parents to be generous in donating their time and talents. It is a great way to spend time with your child while making new friends! We couldn't do this without you!

You are an important part of our success! The American Fork Band Booster Organization needs YOU and we appreciate you! Volunteers are a vital part of the Band Program. This includes all sections - Guard, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion. On the questions that follow, please indicate where you might be interested in helping.
Band Dads - I'd like to help! (Not limited to Dads! Band dads load and unload the semi when the band travels. Band Dads haul trailers, build props, break things, fix things, eat good food, paint fields, help push instruments on and off the field, and so much more! Volunteers can help once or every time, whatever works for you!)
Clear selection
Section Mom - Each section needs a section mom or two. Any time the band performs in uniform, section moms & the uniform team do inspections and help with last minute uniform issues. Section moms may also help with section treats, parties, etc. as needed. This is not limited to moms!

(We currently only need another section mom for Alto Sax)
Water Team - I'd like to help. (The Water team helps keep the band hydrated! The water team provides water for the band before and after parades, at band camp, and at competitions. We have multiple people on the water team because we know everyone can't be there every time.)
Clear selection
Medical Team - I'd like to help. (Members of the medical team travel with the band to help keep the band healthy and safe. Member(s) of the medical team walk behind the band in parades and travel with the band to competitions, band camp and will go to St. George & Flagstaff with the band. Members of the medical team have medical training & experience.)
Clear selection
Photography Team - I'd like to help.  (This is not just for Marching Band. This involves photography for MB, percussion, winter guard and all of the concert bands. We’d love a photographer at each event. It would be helpful if we could get parents of percussionists, winter guard, band, etc., taking pictures at events that you are already attending anyway. These pictures can be used for band social media posts, and are posted to the band SmugMug page for students and parents to download. Photography experience is helpful.)
Clear selection
Fundraisers - I'd like to help. (The fundraiser committee helps plan and manage band student fundraisers.)
Clear selection
Corporate Fundraising - I'd like to help. (Members of this committee help with promotional information, contacting businesses, information for the band website, etc.)
Clear selection
Food & Social Events Team - I'd like to help. (Hard working band students are hungry, and always grateful to be fed! This team helps plan and serve food at band camps at AFHS or other events.)
Clear selection
Publicity - I'd like to help. (Help get the word out about the band and other special events.)
Clear selection
Junior High Liaison for MRJH - I'd like to help. (One parent with a 9th grader at each junior high helps organize carpools to the high school on rehearsal days. At this time, we only still need a liaison for MRJH)
Clear selection
Jazz in the Park Committee - I'd like to help. MAY 13, 2023  (This fun evening is a outdoor concert fundraiser for the program. We hope to grow this event in future years. A few helpers will be needed that night, and those slots will be up on Charms soon. We’d also love to grow the committee for this event. Please let us know if you’d like to help.)
Clear selection
Steel Days Breakfast - I'd like to help.  JULY 22, 2023 (The Steel Days Breakfast is a long-standing AFHS Band tradition, and is how many families love to start their Steel Days Parade day. This fundraiser is entirely staffed by band parents to set up, cook and serve breakfast, and clean up afterwards. Macey's in American Fork donates the food, and 100% of the proceeds from the tickets each student sells go to their own band account. There will be lots of volunteer slots to sign up for on Charms for the Steel Days Breakfast, and we need many hands that day to make this breakfast a success! We also need a person or two on this committee to help with the planning.)
Clear selection
Band Camp - I'd like to help.  JULY 31- AUGUST 3, 2022 (Held at Gunnison High School in Gunnison Utah the first week of August– Monday-Thursday. Come for a day or stay all week. There are places to sleep at the HS for the Moms and Dads that come. Parents help with preparing food - breakfast, lunch, dinner, fruit, and dessert. Also to keep the bathrooms clean. It is a great time to get to know other parents and see what your kids do all day at band camp. Later in the summer, there will be signups on Charms for helping at Gunnison Band Camp.)
Clear selection
Christmas Ornament Committee - I'd like to help.  (Are you crafty, creative, or good with detailed work? This top secret project might be for you! Each year, after the AFHS band Christmas concert, we hand out an ornament for that year’s marching band students. The ornament is designed to go along with the theme of the marching band show. This committee designs the ornament, and heads up making the ornaments in time for the concert.)
Clear selection
Jazz Dinner Dance Fundraiser Committee - SPRING 2024 - I'd like to help.  (Did you attend or volunteer at the Jazz dinner recently? This beautiful evening is an individual fundraiser. The 2024 event will have volunteer signup slots as it gets closer. Please let us know if you’d like to be on the committee to help with the Jazz Dinner.)
Clear selection
Elementary School Recruitment - SPRING 2024 - I'd like to help.  (This project involves calling parents of elementary students that are interested in band to set appointments to meet junior high band directors and select an instrument.)
