Play/Cafe is a unique coffee shop / indoor play hybrid where adults relax, hang out with friends, or get some work done while the kids play! Our play area keeps kids ages 0-6 engaged in meaningful play while their adults either join them or watch from the cafe area! On the weekends (and sometimes on weekday evenings) we host birthday parties, where a group rents the entire space. We help with setup and cleanup and give them an unforgettable, stress-free experience! We have options to add decor and food, and even an all-inclusive VIP package!

We are looking for fun, friendly, energetic people who thrive in a fast-paced work environment, can think on their feet and adapt to change. People who love kids, have experience working with them, and enjoy celebrating all the fun of play!

$16.66/hour + tips. Paid training. Flexible hours and time off. Roughly 20-35 hours per week.

In order to offer flexibility and time off for all staff, we are seeking someone who can be available for any shift, including weekends. 

Sample shifts:

  • 8:30-2:30
  • 9:45-3:15
  • 9:30-1:45
  • 2:30-6:45
  • 3:15-7:45

Since we serve alcohol and employees will often be working on their own during closing or party shifts, we are currently seeking applicants 21 and older. If you are at least 18, you may apply and we will keep your application on file, or contact you if you express interest in occasional work when we need extra staff for larger birthday parties, weekend mornings, etc.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Providing incredible customer service at our cafe counter (checking customers in, selling play passes and memberships, and educating customers about our facility and offerings)
  • Taking customer orders, making drinks and food
  • Checking in adults and kids for open play
  • Monitoring and engaging with children utilizing our play area (parents ARE responsible for monitoring their children)
  • Keeping the play and cafe areas clean and organized throughout the entire day, including light and deep cleaning. Cleanliness is a priority! 
  • Hosting private birthday parties (setup/cleanup of food and décor, making drinks, facilitating the flow of the party)
  • Communicating with the owners, giving us valuable feedback on ways we can improve Play/Cafe
  • Maintaining a welcoming and approachable demeanor. We encourage feedback from customers.
  • Having fun! One reason we opened Play/Cafe was so that we could have fun at work, and we want you to have fun too! Get to know the customers and don't be afraid to be silly!

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Dependable and trustworthy (w/ references)
  • Experience working with children preferred 
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Background check required
  • Age 21+ 
  • Weekend availability required
  • Flexible availability (within reason)
  • Technology experience preferred
  • MAST (alcohol server training) to be obtained within 60 days of employment
  • Food Worker Card to be obtained within 14 days of employment
  • Hours for MAST and Food Worker training will be paid after 6 months of employment
