2018-2019 Principal's Letter
Dear Las Colinas Parents and Students,

Please review the following letter and electronically sign below.

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! At Las Colinas, we believe that a safe and positive learning environment is essential to the success of all of our students. We believe that all students have the right to learn, and that all teachers need to be able to facilitate student learning in a safe, positive and respectful learning environment. It is our expectation that students will maintain high behavioral standards. We expect all students at Las Colinas to follow all school rules, cooperate with staff and one another, and dress appropriately for school.

In the first pages of your student’s agenda book, you will find a copy of our discipline policy and dress code for the 2018-2019 year. You can also view our policies on our website. During the first week of school, staff will review this information with the students. Our goal is to start the year right and continue throughout the year. Please help us by supporting these policies.

Please note that students will be dismissed at 2:05pm each Thursday, during the 2018-2019 school year. You can find our bell schedules in your student’s agenda book as well as on LCMS’s webpage. Campus supervision is provided from 7:45am to 3:25pm, except on Thursday when supervision will end by 2:25pm. Please try to arrange drop-off and pick-up times accordingly. We strongly encourage students to be active and welcome students to use the following methods of transportation to and from school: walking, biking, scooting, skateboarding, and roller blading. Please remember that these items are prohibited from use on the school grounds and must be stored in the bike rack which is located at the front of the school during school hours. The rack is secured at the beginning of the day and opened at the end of the day. Students should always secure their items with a lock. The school is not responsible for any damages or loss of these items. Also be aware that State law requires students to wear helmets when operating a bicycle or any of the items listed above.

Most students now have cell phones. Cell phones must be turned off and kept out of sight during the school day. Cell phones being used inappropriately will be confiscated and parents will be contacted to retrieve them.

All staff members at Las Colinas want to work in partnership with the community to provide a safe, positive, orderly and respectful school learning environment. Students or parents who have knowledge of potentially suspicious or dangerous activities are encouraged to share this with our school staff or the police. Students and parents with particular concerns or knowledge are encouraged to call the “We Tip Hotline” at 1-800-78-CRIME (1-800-782-7463) or “Crime Stoppers” at 385-TALK (385- 8255).
