Hacks/Hackers Diversity Fund Application
Over the next year, Hacks/Hackers will launch a pilot program that simultaneously provides resources to local chapters and supports diversity — broadly defined — at the intersection of journalism and technology.
We are looking for partner organizations who have fellowships, conferences, classes, or other projects where extra funding can help promote their efforts at diversifying their participants.
In exchange, the organizations will help organize events for their local Hacks/Hackers chapters.
The grants range from $500 to $3,000, and the level of work at the local chapter would be commensurate to the grant size. As a rough rule of thumb, a $500-$1,000 grant would equal a small or a large local Meetup. We would also require some blog posts about the work you are doing — whether for the project or the local meetups.
The funding could be to provide travel stipends for a conference, performing outreach in geographic areas, engaging schools, buying food or supplies for an event, or any number of other projects. We are open to new ideas and happy to help flesh out a project idea if you have one.
