2019 Youth Liberation Summer Institute Application
The Liberation Summer Youth Institute is designed to empower youth with the tools to create social change with immigrant and refugee communities. The Institute is a space for community organizing, art, creativity, healing, political consciousness, campaign strategy and liberation movement building. We aim to inspire youth to lead an intersectional movement for and justice!

Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about policy issues as immigration, education, health care access and more. Participants will have the chance of meeting community leaders, elected officials, advocates and organizers who are leading social change. Participants will enhance their skills while making a positive impact in their communities.

- Must be a high school or college student age 14-22 years old
- Must be passionate about immigrant and refugee rights
- Must have interest in learning about community organizing
-Must be able to commit to all institute dates, field trips and graduation
* YLS Institute is not open to past participants

We strongly encourage youth who have been impacted by immigration policies to apply. Undocumented/DACA youth are welcome!

Program Dates (10 sessions from 9 AM - 5 PM)

Session #1: June 11, 2019
Session #2: June 13, 2019
Session #3: June 17, 2019
Session #4: June 19 , 2019
Session #5: June 25, 2019
Session #6: June 27, 2019
Session #7: July 1, 2019
Session #8: July 3, 2019
Session #9: July 9, 2019
Session #10: July 11, 2019

Possible field trip days: June 15, June 29 (9 AM - 5 PM)

Graduation day: July 17 or July 19 at 5:30 PM

Application Deadline: Friday, April 30, 2019

Location: SIREN San Jose Office, 1415 Koll Circle #108. San Jose, CA.

The institute is not open to past participants.

The institute is free and participants will receive a stipend at their completion of the program.
