HERSCHEL USERS QUESTIONNAIRE 2014
This survey is designed to optimize the impact of the Herschel Science Archive (HSA) in the community by the identification of potentially critical aspects of its data format, functionalities, and documentation.

You can help in this endeavor by responding to this questionnaire developed by the Herschel Users' Group (HUG). Your replies will remain anonymous, and will be considered from only a statistical point of view. The questions can be answered very rapidly, and should require no more than 5 minutes of your time. Thank you for your collaboration.

How often do you access the Herschel Science Archive (hereafter HSA)?
When did you access the HSA last?
Rate the ease with which you were able to access the archive and find what you were looking for.
very difficult
very straightforward
Additional comments on the ease of use (optional)
Your answer
The HSA currently hosts some user provided data products (UPDPs) from Herschel key programs. Rate the ease with which you were able to search for Herschel UPDPs in the HSA archive.
Not applicable=0, 1=very difficult
very straightforward
Additional comments on the usefulness of or improvements to the HSA access to user provided data (optional)
Your answer
The NASA/IPAC Infrared Science Archive (IRSA) currently hosts some user provided data products (UPDPs) from Herschel key programs (http://irsa.ipac.caltech.edu/Missions/herschel.html). Rate the ease with which you were able to search for Herschel UPDPs in the IRSA archive.
Not applicable=0, 1=very difficult
very straightforward
Additional Comments on the usefulness of or improvements to the IRSA access to user provided data (optional)
Your answer
Rate the clarity of the front-end startup page for the HSA query.
highly obtuse
extremely clear
Rate the ease of use of the batch option for searching the HSA for lists.
very difficult
very straightforward
How important would it be to be able to access single photometric or spectroscopic bands (e.g., PACS) in the HSA query?
.
extremely unimportant
extremely useful
How important would it be to have the possibility to perform more sophisticated queries, e.g., coordinate regions (boxes defined by 4 vertices) combined with a single PACS, HIFI, or SPIRE wavelength/spectral mode?
extremely unimportant
extremely useful
Could you suggest additional options for queries that you would like to see available in the HSA
Your answer
What products did you access?
Once a target is selected and the data downloaded from the HSA, how would you rate the current organisation (e.g., the sub-directory structure and naming protocols) of the data assuming that they are used outside of HIPE?
Did you find it easy to convert the data to your preferred format?
very difficult
very straightforward
Could you suggest improvements for nomenclature, format or organisation of the downloaded data?
Your answer
How important would you rate the availability of standalone products accessible directly from the query results (i.e., to be able to avoid selecting them from a choice in Retrieval option)?
extremely unimportant
extremely useful
Rate the documentation on the files accessible in the HSA.
very bad
