Register for the 2025 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, presented by Carnegie Mellon University Libraries. Registration ends Friday, January 24, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
All 3MT competitors will be scheduled to compete in a preliminary round. These qualifying competitions will occur in-person on campus between February 4 and February 20, 2025 from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Participants will be able to designate their top three choices for Preliminary Round and we will do our best to accommodate these requests. Winners of the preliminaries will proceed to the Championship, held in-person on campus on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. ET.
3MT is an internationally recognized competition that challenges Ph.D. students to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance in just three minutes, in language that anyone can understand. 3MT is not an exercise in trivializing or "dumbing down" research, but requires student to consolidate their ideas, crystallize their research discoveries, and capture the imagination of their audience. More information on 3MT can be found at the
3MT website.
