Filipinos for Palestine (F4P) Printmaking RSVP

Who: Filipinos for Palestine (F4P) is a network of U.S.-based Filipinos in solidarity for a free Palestine. We lend our voices to the growing global chorus: From Palestine to the Philippines, Stop the U.S. War Machine! Whether you're already involved in the Filipino and Palestinian liberation struggles or simply looking to learn more, we invite all community members to join us for a family-friendly printmaking event.

What: Family-friendly community printmaking event broken up into two parts:
  1. Story time and kids’ open studio (families with children ages 0-12): To explore the connections between Palestine and the Philippines, we’ll read aloud stories by Palestinian and Filipino authors, sing songs, learn chants, and make art to take to the streets! Art activities will include silkscreen and block printing, zine-making, and coloring posters. We’ll provide materials, but you're welcome to bring your own tote bags or t-shirts!
  2. Teach-in and open studio (all ages): We'll provide a teach-in session for folks of all ages that covers the Palestinian and Filipino liberation struggles. And we'll keep the rest of the space open for others who'd like to create more art.
When: Sunday, May 19 @ 2-5pm (doors open at 2pm)
  • 2-3:30pm: Story time and kids’ open studio for families with children ages 0-12
  • 3:30-5pm teach-in and open studio for all ages
Where: Spudnik Press (1821 W Hubbard St, Suite 302, Chicago)

Why: While the U.S. government continues to fund Israel's genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, it has stoked tensions with China in the Pacific and attempted to drag the Philippines into its dangerous war games through political alliances and economic policies. Processing this alone is hard enough, so we wanted to create a safe space for folks of all ages to be in community, engage in conversation, and learn about these issues together.
