2026 Eleanor
Robberson Sportsmanship Award
Eleanor had a lifelong passion for horsemanship and was an advocate in furthering the equine industry in Missouri. She taught many how to ride hunt seat. Eleanor was an equestrian instructor at Stephens College in Columbia and was actively involved in the University of Missouri 4-H horsemanship program for Greene County. She also served on the Board of the Missouri Equine Council (now known as the Missouri Horse Council). Most importantly, she was the life and business partner of Dr. James Robberson of The Equine Clinic. Eleanor had the ability to communicate with clarity and assertiveness, while remaining humble in all situations. She is missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
A junior and adult sportsmanship award will be given each year to an active member of SMHJA found to be most helpful, supportive, and “sportsmanlike” throughout the year. Members may be nominated at any time during the year by any member.
