We are thrilled to invite you to apply for the second iteration of "Open Science for Bioinformaticians" virtual workshop — an introductory two-day training designed specifically for young professionals and students in Nigeria who are eager to deepen their knowledge of bioinformatics and embrace the values of open science.
This interactive, hands-on workshop will explore the principles, benefits, and real-world applications of open science in the field of bioinformatics. Through practical sessions and guided discussions, participants will gain foundational skills in using open tools, managing and sharing data responsibly, and navigating ethical and legal frameworks in research.
We believe open science has the power to transform how we conduct research, making it more transparent, collaborative, and accessible. By joining this workshop, you are taking a meaningful step toward building a more inclusive and innovative scientific community in Nigeria and beyond.
Participants will be selected based on their interest, background, and potential to benefit from the program. Those accepted are expected to attend all sessions, complete pre- and post-workshop surveys, and actively engage during the training. Certificates will be issued to those who fulfill these requirements.
Thanks to the generous support from the Society of Research Software Engineering and Open Life Science (OLS ) fellowship awarded to Seun Olufemi, we are able to offer mobile data support to only Nigerian participants who indicate a need. In case you do, please let us know in the form below — we’re committed to making this workshop as inclusive as possible.
